We are whirling with excitement to see images of the New City Reader #03 going up on the street walls of Istanbul. For this edition, Demilit created an infinite puzzle. With this puzzle, players collectively map the city, creating chips or puzzle pieces from their discoveries and memories. Once a few pieces are collected, people can gather to play different games we invented or can devise their own rules of play.
New City Reader [03 - Puzzle] is out on the streets of İstanbul! | Istanbul Design Biennial
Thanks to Joseph Grima, Elian Stefa, Elisa Pasqual, Marco Ferrari, Ethel Baraona Pohl and everyone at the NCR for making this a reality! We also especially want to thank Rob Greco, who went above and beyond our plea for some beta testing and prepared an extensive bibliography of precedents with comments.
We’ll be posting more on Terra Incognita, so stay tuned…

About
"@demilit seems to be a nut job" - Tim O'Reilly.

Demilit scours landscapes for mundane, everyday connections between spaces, objects, individuals, and authority.

An experimental collective, Demilit was founded in 2010 by Bryan Finoki, Nick Sowers, and Javier Arbona. The trio also works with various collaborators on specific projects, performances, and playful improvisations.

Demilit opportunistically draws from architecture, sound art, creative writing, geography and other fields to produce work that encompasses events, texts, web memes, and more.
